Course Overview

  • Myth makes meaning by converting experience into narrative forms that can relieve anxiety and fears; but also reveal hidden knowledge and vital paths of awakening. Without a sense of mythic imagination, the world can seem more random and be more overwhelming. Myth is not about the facts of the matter, but about what matters most to us.

  • By seeing our own story through the lens of myth we can gain a psychological and poetic grasp of our own lives and the events of the world. In times of crisis the story of the soul tries to break through and become more conscious. Each time we align with the inner thread of our soul we can experience an awakening of imagination and a renewal of the flow of life energy.

Course Introduction

Course Highlights

Key themes and core ideas in "Myth, Meaning and Imagination":

  • Mythic imagination can break the spell of time and open us to a level of life that remains timeless.

  • Hearing a story awakens the mythic story living in each of us. It places us in a “mythic condition” that reconnects us to the core imagination and living story at the center of our soul.

  • The key issue with mythic images is to let them speak to us, wherever and whenever we find ourselves seeking guidance, permission, or understanding.

  • When in touch with the soul’s mythic thread we can find the arts and practices, the aims and meanings that allow our souls to grow deeper, our imagination to expand and our spirits to awaken.

  • Myth is not about what happened in past times; myth is about what happens to people all of the time.
